Traveling solo can be a daunting experience, especially given your gender or race. Many people fear that they'll appear vulnerable, or simply just aren't used to their own company. Fear not, London is one of the most perfect places to do solo activity because so many Londoners are also doing things throughout their day alone! As the temperature begins to drop and the city is preparing for fall, here are the top 5 solo activities to do in London.

1. Go see a newly released movie at Odeon Luxe

Odeon Luxe is a lavish cinema experience, for a very affordable price. Odeon Luxe Holloway has tickets for as low as £9.95 (and £8 for members on Member Mondays!). The cinema only has comfortable reclining seats, and a wide selection of treats, drinks, snacks, and ice cream. Just a 12-minute walk from Holloway road station, the location is very laid back and separated from the noise of Zone 1.

2. Wander around South Kensington

South Kensington is a personal favorite when it comes to spending a day alone. Start your day getting some chocolate beignets from Paul, and make your way to the V&A museum to see all of the beautiful free displays or visit one of the world renowned fashion exhibitions. When you leave the V&A, cross the street to the Natural History Museum (also free) to learn about our Earth, our animals, and how we can make a difference. On your way back to the station, I recommend stopping by Venchi for a mango gelato. Or if you're craving lunch, grab a burger from Honest or Five Guys before heading to your next destination.

3. Go Roller Skating 

This option is obviously for people who have an idea of how to skate, but even if you don't I promise you'll have fun. Head over to Flippers Roller Palace in White City at 7pm preferably on the weekend and skate around while listening to a live DJ. There's a bar by the rink if you drink and a restaurant downstairs if you don't. Everyone's doing their own thing so they really won't care that you're alone.

4. Go Shopping!

Shopping is truly so much fun when done alone. There is no one to peer pressure you into buying things you don't need and you can browse at your own pace. The food court is loaded with options, or you can dine privately at one of the many restaurants. Westfield Stratford has so many food and shop options, and is the biggest mall in London. If you want a more unique and underground (literally) shopping experience I recommend Brick Lane's underground vintage spot right before the Truman Brewery bridge.

5. Get something sweet 

As a Caribbean girl, I was born with the "need something sweet" gene. Covent Garden is the best spot for a sweet treat in my opinion, there are so many options to choose from. My favourite treats to eat around London are gelato from either Venchi or Snowflake, macarons (rose and coffee in particular) from Lauderee, soft serve ice cream from either Milk Train or Soft Serve Society and chocolate covered strawberries.

Cayman Style Beef is one of my favourite local dishes from the Cayman Islands. Shredded, seasoned beef paired with rice and beans and red potato salad or coleslaw on the side... mmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Definitely pair that with local swanky or fruit punch and have a seat outside by the sea breeze, it's perfect. I recommend trying it from Island Taste in George Town, or if you have time drive up to East End and get it from Ms Vivine's Kitchen. ​
